Privacy policy

The short version

We collect as little as we can. The details you type into the deposit check and the demand letter stay in your browser. We don't sell your information, and our own analytics don't use cookies. We do use a Google advertising tag to measure our ads, described below.

Information that stays in your browser

Your state, dates, deposit amounts, names, and addresses are used in your browser to calculate your deadline and build your letter. The PDF is created on your device. This information is kept in your browser's storage so it survives a trip to checkout. It is cleared when you press Start over or close the tab, and the copy saved while you pay is removed after checkout or within 24 hours. It is not sent to or stored on our servers.

Analytics

To understand how the site is used, we record page views and a few steps in the process, such as running a deadline check (including the state chosen and whether the deadline has passed), starting checkout, and downloading the letter. We also record the referring website, campaign tags in the link you followed, and your general device type, browser, and operating system.

We count unique visitors with a code made from your IP address and browser that changes every day, so we can't recognize you from one day to the next. Your IP address itself is not stored in our analytics, and no analytics cookies are placed on your device.

Advertising

We use the Google Ads tag to measure how well our ads work, for example how many people visit after clicking an ad. Google may set cookies and collect information such as your IP address, device, and pages visited, as described in Google's privacy policy. You can control ad personalization in your Google account's ad settings. The tag is not given the details you enter for your letter.

Contact form

When you send us a message, we keep your name, email address, subject, and message so we can reply. Messages are delivered to our support inbox and stored in our admin system. We use your email address only to respond to you.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details are entered on Stripe's secure checkout and are never sent to or stored by us. Stripe's privacy policy explains how it handles payment information. We receive only a confirmation that the payment was completed.

Server logs and security

Like most websites, our web server keeps short-term technical logs, including IP addresses, to keep the site running and protect it from abuse. Our site is served over HTTPS, and access to our admin system is restricted to authorized staff.

Sharing

We don't sell or rent personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the site, such as our hosting provider, email provider, Stripe, and Google for ad measurement, or when required by law.

Your choices

You can use the deadline check without giving us any contact details. You can clear the information in your browser at any time with the Start over button. To ask about, correct, or delete a message you sent us, contact us using the details below.

Children

SecurityDepositHub is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13.
